WELCOME to the B-A Class of ‘62

Class Motto: Better Always Higher Still

Graduating Class

May 31, 1962, Ninety-six classmates from the Class of ’62 graduated. Our vision of the future was shaped by plans for the following year. With thoughts of higher education, the armed forces and impending engagements, who could think any further ahead? The freedoms on the other side of the school walls consumed our days and filled our dreams.
When we started our new journey after graduation we were called "the graduates of the Class of ’62". We have all suffered from disappointments, illnesses, and loss of loved ones. We have also shared the joys of friendships, job promotions, raising families, and enjoying grandchildren.
We all remember how September 11, 2001, changed many of our lives. Our sense of security had been shattered, but as Americans we pulled together and stood tall and supported our great nation and moved forward.
Now we have acquired a new title, “Senior Citizens.” As age steals away the years, we are faced with making the decision to retire or continue to work. Regardless what we choose, the Bellwood-Antis Class of ’62, are survivors.
As we continue our journey through the “Golden Years,” we will enjoy each new day as it was our last. We will cherish every moment spent with family and friends and enjoy the journey as long as it last.

Annual Hayride & wiener roast Brubaker's Farm; Wliliamsburg,PA

It is always a fun filled evening in October when Kenny & Sue Brubaker open their home to the class for a Hayride and wiener roast.  Kenny drives the tractor towing the haywagon that has leather seats. Very unique. We are not getting jab in the butt with a blade of straw.  Kenny usually takes us on a very scenic route for several hours.

Classmates enter Bellwood 125th Celebration Parade

Bellwood Borough celebrated their 125th Anniversary year with a 3 day calendar of events on June 21st, 22nd, and 23rd. A group of classmates joined together in decorating a float for the big parade that was held Saturday at 5:00PM.  Thanks to Classmate Ken Brubaker for providing the use of his transport trailer for the float.  Tom DelMastro towed the float with his new truck he had just purchased.  A big thank you to Kay Hornberger for donating the BA Class '62 banners for on the float.  Also, to everyone that helped with the construction and decorating of the float.  Our theme for the float was "School Days".
Saturday, Jenny and Rick Showalter hosted between 45 and 50  classmates, spouses, and friends for a covered dish picnic lunch. Everyone seemed to have enjoyed the day.  Around 2:30PM those classmates riding the float changed into outfits.   Rick Benner, Randy Johnson, Dick Kensinger, and Dick Wertz wore football jersey and shoulder pads. Kathie Cross-McConnel, Ruth Conrad-Miller, Connie Edmiston-Isenberg, Delores Hescox-Irvin, and Jenny Barley-Showalter dressed in poodle skirts.  They also wore big hats because of the bright sun.  Judy Helsley-Patterson was the class impersonator of our favorite librarian, Mrs. Gertrude Metcafe. Judy held a printed photo of Mrs. Metcalf's face in front of hers.  Jim & John Helsley, Walt Carothers wore white shirts and black pants.  We had a live juke box, Rock & Roll Music of the late 50's & 60's.  Also on the float was an old student's school desk.
At 4:45 Pm Tom DelMastro pulled up in front of Showalter's house and the group got on the float. For several hours we all felt like we were seventeen again. What a blast it was as we danced to the music, threw handfuls of candy and waved the people sitting along the curbs. As the float stopped in front of the Judges Station the song by Chuck Berry, "School Days" was Playing.  To refresh your memory, the song goes.  Up in the morning and off to school. The teacher's teaching the Golden Rule.
After the parade, Tom brought us back to the house on the float and we ate again. About an hour passed and we received a call that we won. Back on the float again and we rode down to Festival grounds to receive a trophy for the BEST OVERALL FLOAT in the parade.  We rode all over town again shouting we won the trophy.
Sunday at noon a picture of classmates that attended our 50th Class Reunion with names of each was placed in the 2013 Time capsule.  Al items were placed and sealed in a vault that was donated by the Russin Funeral Home It was buried under the lawn at the Community Pool entrance.
