WELCOME to the B-A Class of ‘62

Class Motto: Better Always Higher Still

Graduating Class

May 31, 1962, Ninety-six classmates from the Class of ’62 graduated. Our vision of the future was shaped by plans for the following year. With thoughts of higher education, the armed forces and impending engagements, who could think any further ahead? The freedoms on the other side of the school walls consumed our days and filled our dreams.
When we started our new journey after graduation we were called "the graduates of the Class of ’62". We have all suffered from disappointments, illnesses, and loss of loved ones. We have also shared the joys of friendships, job promotions, raising families, and enjoying grandchildren.
We all remember how September 11, 2001, changed many of our lives. Our sense of security had been shattered, but as Americans we pulled together and stood tall and supported our great nation and moved forward.
Now we have acquired a new title, “Senior Citizens.” As age steals away the years, we are faced with making the decision to retire or continue to work. Regardless what we choose, the Bellwood-Antis Class of ’62, are survivors.
As we continue our journey through the “Golden Years,” we will enjoy each new day as it was our last. We will cherish every moment spent with family and friends and enjoy the journey as long as it last.

August 8TH. SPECIAL ENTERTAINMENT

SPECIAL ENTERTAINMENT
The group met at Hoss's and had fun filled evening. We were pleased to have Dick Wertz join us for the first time. Jim & Gloria (Nelson) Nedimyer are back again this month. Jenny lead the group with wrinkle therapy as they laughed while she entertained the group with jokes and stories.

We also talked about the 50Th Class Reunion Plans. It would be nice if we had 62 classmates plan to attend our big celebration. The committee is working hard as usual to have another successful event. If you have never attended one of your class reunions make plans to attend this one. Save the dates:

  1. Friday, July 13Th for the Lake Raystown Dinner/Cruise with bus transportation to and from lake.

  2. Saturday, July 14Th for Dinner/Dance at the Calvin House.

  3. Sunday Morning,July 15Th Buffet Breakfast Farewell (Dutch-treat)
Then Dick Wertz and Blair Williams entertained with banjo and guitars while the group sang along. Everyone had a great time. Dick and Blair did a fantastic job for never accompanying each other.

JULY GET-TOGETHER

July 11, CLASSMATES AND SPOUSES RETURN TO HOSS'S FOR THE MONTHLY GET-TOGETHER. It was nice to have Jim & Gloria (Nelson) Nedimyer, from New York join us this month while they are staying at Lake Raystown during the summer months.
Jenny did a presentation on, "What is really important in life?"
Using a mayonnaise jar that represents your life. Filling the jar with golf balls that represents the most important thing in every one's life. (family, friends, god, health, passions, spouse) Then pebbles were added that represents bank account, car, career, church, house and job. Then sand was added to the jar, representing the things that we own that we can do without. The mayonnaise jar looked full but 2 cups of liquid was added. The observation showed that no matter how full your life maybe you still have room to share a cup of coffee, tea, coke, or beer with a friend.

The Passing of Common Sense

Jenny shared with the group an article about how Common Sense died of heart failure at the brink of the Millennium. Common Sense was preceded in death by his parents Truth and Trust; his wife, Discretion; his daughter, Responsibility; and his son Reason. His stepbrothers surive him: Rights, Tolerance and Whiner. As we were growing up for decades, petty rules, silly laws and foolish lawsuits held no power over Common Sense. We lived by simple, sound financial policies like (don't spend more than you earn), and its' okay to come in second. You don't always have to be the winner. Jenny than told jokes about the lack of common sense that our young people display today. It was a great time talking with each other once again.

MARCH BUS TRIP 2011

The B-A Class of '62 sponsored another Bus Trip. March 19Th, a beautiful Saturday, when thirty-six passengers boarded a Fullington Charter Tour Bus at the B-A High School Parking Lot at 1:30 PM and headed to Lancaster, PA. We had reservations at the Good & Plenty Restaurant for a family style sit down dinner. It is a very fine restaurant to dine at. The food was absolutely delicious and all you could eat. Nobody went away from the tables hungry. We had time to browse through the gift shops at the restaurant before getting on the bus. Several women purchased sequin hats of bright spring colors and wore them to the show.
John & Bonnie Moffa drove over to Lancaster, PA from Delaware and joined us for dinner and the show. If you do not recognize some of the people in the pictures, it is because they are not classmates. They replaced some cancellations we had. They had so much fun that they asked if they could go along on the the next trip if there is room?
Our next stop was the American Music Theatre to see the Oak Ridge Boys in Concert. The B-A Class of '62 was welcomed several times on the large TV flat screens that hung on the walls. What a fabulous performance by the Oaks! (two hours nonstop) On the bus in travel, Jenny gave a brief history of the Oak Ridge Boys and asked trivia questions, giving prizes wrapped in paper with the Oak Ridge Boys pictures to the winners.
It was late getting home but we had a lot of fun and everyone seems to have enjoyed the trip. If you would like to get away from home and enjoy a fun day, join us on our next bus trip we plan.

CHRISTMAS PARTY AT HOSS'S

DECEMBER 13, 2010 CLASSMATE'S CELEBRATE THE CHRISTMAS.
After the dinner, Jenny shared with the group several Thank You notes she received. One was from the BELLWOOD-ANTIS FOOD SHARE for the 8 large boxes of canned goods that classmates donated to be given to those less fortunate in our community. Also, we received a Thank You from CHRISTMAS CAROL. Once again the Classmates of '62 were very gracious to give $575 to the Christmas Carol Foundation making Christmas a little brighter for a special family from Bellwood. Thank You! My fellow classmates for being such a wonderful caring group of individuals.
After several Christmas jokes, the group divided into two team and we played several games.
The first game was "CHRISTMAS KISSES". No we didn't go around kissing. Each team member put on a pair of gloves and unwrapped a chocolate kiss in a relay. Things we take for granted are sometimes very difficult to do. The winners received bags of snowman poop. Then each group selected a captain for the next game, "REINDEER ANTLERS". Jerry Miller & Denny Beecher cheered their team on as each team member blew balloons to be stuffed into a pair of panty hose legs. As soon as the captain 's panty hose was filled he put it on his head and crochet red nose. The winners received bags of reindeer poop. We also played "GIFT EXCHANGE" Everyone brought a wrapped $5 gift. Everyone was given a number and as the number was called each person took a gift from the table. The second time their number was called the could exchange presents with someone else. After everyone has the opportunity to exchange. Then we opened the presents. We also answered Trivia questions about CHRISTMAS songs. A great time was had by all.
